Shrinking of Modern India

Earlier the families were staying as joint family where all use to sit together and have food and had great moments. Kids use to get to know all their relatives such as chacha, cousins, grandpa, grandma, bua, etc in their very young early age and such kids who were part of joint family were very emoted in their life towards all and no doubt the love and respect was naturally the by product in their life. Kids were just busy all day. In family all was managed in very good energy manner. Today the families have shrinked in terms of having a concept of nuclear family and the reason you may find is “we need some personal space”. this has just killed the Indian family system (Courts have now added to this even more and has made misery) and this space has destroyed the families eco-system and now the level has reached where even if their parents/ brothers etc goes to their house washroom they will hesitate because of preferring washroom be used by me only. Not saying that such people they don’t respect families but this is the small root which will in future come to the point where they will don’t like and this has already started.

Shrinking families means one kid and such one child life goes in isolation if parents are working and if not then also isolation as kids need another kid for better growth and this concept gave rise to kindergarten, playschool, kids activities parlour, kids care centre where kids are not learning of their own language, culture, behaviour but from others and this is where the whole mindset of kids are getting damaged. For ex, in some family we say “AAP” and outside they say “TU” and this is the reasons why the language culture has gone very bad in Mumbai and especially in youth. If you ask AAP is good they will say it does not matter as at end how you treat people. Fair enough, but big concern always comes when small concerns are ignored. We stopped Gurukul where studies were purely on oneself stating that today school is good and now all will realise that Gurukul had the right education set-up as degrees has nothing to do with business success also as business grows when oneself grows. Today there are sitting cafes, talking cafes, unknown meetups, etc., for reasons that they are being isolated and need space and then look for friends on social media who are of no use and then to meet in this way. That’s the culture we are now in and is purely due to shrinking new trend.

Shrinking in food, the method in which they have duped customers to a very great extent that now even customers are habitual and realised that shrinking is not cheating. For ex., Lifebuoy, Dettol, thy say buy 20 gms for Rs, 10 a soap, then they shrink the size and then they sell for same amount and then after months or years they say we are giving extra 2 gms. Best example is Dairy Milk, their 10 Rs Dairy Milk is what we used to get for 5 Rs and now shrinking in their chocolate is seen very clearly and new name given for cheating is Business policies. So basically, few rich business/political/entertainers/etc who have become influencers decides what is good and what is bad and today generation will go after it.

Shrinking in the size of flat area which is being constructed to sell is the sign we need to know. Earlier the property were sold saying 500 carpet area, etc and now 2bhk, 3bhk, etc. the area has gone small and infact the size of the bedroom is far smaller than earlier washroom and if you ask any one today of this, they will be like due to population. That’s Education for you from our current Indian education set-up. But business minded personnels will know the exact reasons which are now in minority.

Shrinking in having no idea of their own business field is a major issue. If you ask any sales person of garments today of what is cloth ingredient has, they will look the tag and say cotton and polyester and they are not even aware by touching the garments and same applies to other business too. Earlier majority and now in minority, business owners and sales person use to touch the garment and say the exact mixture of ingredients in cloth. Today franchisee business model has started so the franchisee just sign the agreement and become temporary owner of the business and is not even aware of the business and then one find day shuts. India’s business structure was totally different and at that time that was logical but to say now it is not logical is even more incorrect.

Shrinking families leads to shrinking knowledge and respective culture and Indian ideologies and no doubt today generation is losing Sayam which is very clear when we saw how the young boy of 25 was stabbed for whether train door be closed in rains or not and what was achieved, one death and another possibly life imprisonment or death penalty (knowing Indian Courts, he may be free in sometime). So basically as India lost two mind, two lives, two humans which is the backbone of growth of India. Living in fear, dying in fear, be calm, be silent, is the keywords of today generation and is being made as Do list now a days and this is purely due to rotten government system set-up and useless Police duty and Courts being of no use since many years.

Shrinking Food Quality (Business ethics), is the proof of why today generation are losing the way. Acharya Mahapragya (Swami Vivekanand of Modern Era) have said, YOU ARE WHAT YOU EAT. Earlier ancient Gurus, Rishis, etc have said Food what eat is what you become. What are we eating today, chemicals, soda powders, atta for which quality is out of dictionary, etc?

Shrinking eyes, is the another concern for Indians. Watching instagram reels, kitty parties non-sense videos, etc has made the eyes even weaker and the way Lenskart is selling the Specs no doubt the eyes of each Indian will be with specs. Specs are the obstacle no doubt and if we see this are purely due to our own bad habits.

Shrinking responsibilities, Shrinking emotions, Shrinking Lifestyle, Shrinking business ethics is a real major concern and this is purely due to we neglecting our ancient Bharat system and this is actually creating a huge gap of we used to be a skilled business entrepreneur country to a dying business mindset country. Degrees such as MBA, CA, CS, etc will not make someone successful but only professionals and this applies to Judges including Supreme Court too. Only because the Judges are not aware of how business used to work in India in rural and urban, their judgement on Business shows their mindset. None of the orders which are being passed is helping the business house to recover their own business. This is purely due to shrinking mindset; believe or not, trust or not.

A Question worth Asking

The issue may not be that families are smaller, homes are compact, or businesses operate differently. Change is inevitable.

The deeper question is whether, in the process of modernisation, we are also allowing our patience, relationships, craftsmanship, ethics, and community spirit to shrink.

Progress should improve convenience without reducing compassion. Economic growth should not come at the cost of human connection. Technology should support relationships, not replace them.

Perhaps the real challenge before modern India is not preventing change but ensuring that, while our physical spaces may become smaller, our values, wisdom, and sense of community continue to grow.
