Stop Using Karna as an Excuse for Adharma

I asked someone “have you read Mahabharata” and if so, then which character you feel is near to you. The reply got is “Karna” and the reason I heard was that “he chose to give his life for his friend”. This you might have heard from many people and infact there is no surprise that this act of Karna has become the example to all who knowingly does bad deed stating the story of Karna. Well, whether it is right or wrong, it depends on what you chose for your life but in no way Karna wanted the future to use him as example in doing bad deeds.

Well, it is strange that no one wants to read and understand in totality but only read in-parts and then following the emotion and ensure to give an example to ensure of your showcasing right path. There are many movies made where it gives the lesson that even if your friend is doing bad things, don’t live them alone but be like Karna and the outcome which it gives that be with him to ensure he is not left alone. If today I ask you whether it is correct or not, the answer will be you safeguarding the comfort zone as it has become the trend to be safe with history illustration without knowing the way of reading the same. 

Well, the way I can describe is the story of brothers who gives different way to look for what is peace and truth for yourself.

A] Ram, Laxman, Bharat and Shatrughan

Here, Ram as son accepted what his Father said and never replied or asked about the same. Laxman though was never told for exile but his pure love for brother Ram, decided to stay with Ram. Bharat when knew about the reasons for Ram being send to exile, never sat on Ayodhya on King Seat but kept the Paduka of Lord Ram. Such Brothers love showed the respect for each other in the way World never saw and or heard of.

We can learn what Brothers can do and understand the right path for themselves and a respect between themselves

B] Bali and Sughriv

Here, both being brave and had a deep respect for each other. It was only when Sughriv thought that Bali would have died, took the Head of the State but when Bali returned, he was furious of being cheated by his brother and he defeated his brother and also made the wife of Sughriv as Dasi. Thereafter Lord Ram came and killed Bali as part of Ramayana.

What we can learn is that Sughriv could have waited for his brother and assuming not so, could have never sat on as Head but could have given the place to Bali son but not doing so, somewhere he was not even correct but what Bali was did was also not correct.

C] Vibhishan, Ravan and Kumbhkaran

Ravan was unapologetic for his wrong done and when this was known to Vibhishan, he tried his best to guide Ravan of what is truth but Ravan with his EGO never bowed down and he left Ravan or to say he was thrown out of Ravan Sena. Vibhishan helped Ram to conquer Ravan. Kumbhkaran on other hand was given the boon to sleep all the years except one day and if after that day he was being called upon to be awake he will be killed. When Ravan found that Lord Ram is about to defeat Ravan, Ravan made Kumbhkaran awake and even though Kumbhkaran knew of what has happened and knew he will die, he fought for Ravan and died.

Three brothers, one with Ego (Ravan) never respected Vibhishan and Vibhishan left to help Lord Ram and Kumbhkaran understand that what Vibhishan has done is correct and Ravan is purely wrong but helped Ravan. Question is whether Vibhishan leaving his brother is correct or not and whether Kumbhkaran helping Ravan in wrong cause is good or bad. This is you need to decide

We all know, that Lord Ram is praised for his faithfulness, truth, honesty and a man who lived with such simplicity that today Lord Ram is anonymous with Truth and honesty.  

It is true somehow that what happened to Karn was not correct but that does not make Karn a right example to choosing Duryodhana in wrong cause and infact it was Karn who agreed that he choose wrong path and when he was given the correct path, he chose not to go and his death was also a case of his no wrong done. However, but will this make Karn a correct example for humans today for those who chose wrong path because of someone. One need to know the earlier life of Karna what he did when he got the powers and how “Nar and Narayana” fought with him in his earlier life to know the real story (Karna in his earlier life has done adharm)

We need to choose the right path and choosing wrong path for any reasons cannot be the ground for being right when you are wrong path.

Be wise and hence it is necessary we understand what Life is, our soul is, what is correct and what can be avoided and what is not relevant.

I suggest if you feel you are stuck and brain-fade moment comes, just think of what Lord Bharat did and what Vibhishan did as at the end Right is Right and Wrong is wrong even if not your fault.
